They are quintessential small mountain towns located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The Rocky Broad River flows through the Hickory Nut Gorge and feeds Lake Lure. From boating, kayaking, hiking, biking, rock climbing, zip-lining, horseback riding, fishing, and golfing, there are outdoor activities to thrill all levels of enthusiasts. After a day full of play it is a picturesque place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the fresh mountain air from a number of outdoor restaurants with views of the lake, river and Chimney Rock State Park.

The Shaded Crest is a six-cabin retreat nestled atop a hill on seven private, heavily wooded acres in Western North Carolina. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after a hike, a day on the lake or Rocky Broad River, or a scenic drive exploring the charming small towns and cities near Lake Lure.
Due to the recent hurricane, The Shaded Crest is temporarily closed until further notice. It is currently unsafe to visit the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock areas.
